About this opportunity
Marshall Diel & Myers Limited offers an annual scholarship to encourage Bermudian students interested in higher education in the study of law. The principal award provides financial support up to a maximum $15,000 to a Bermudian student with outstanding scholastic achievement, who is pursuing legal studies at an institution that will qualify the student for call to the Bermuda Bar. The scholarship is available only to Bermudians who intend to return to Bermuda to practice law.
The scholarship funds are to be used to contribute to the costs of tuition, room and board at the place of study and to the cost of travel to and from the place of study. The Scholarship Award Committee focuses on the candidate's interest in pursuing a legal career in Bermuda, their outstanding academic ability, academic and personal references, personal leadership and character, charitable and community involvement, as well as temperament and disposition.
To be eligible for the award, the candidate must hold Bermuda status and submit proof of acceptance into or enrolment at a law school or post-graduate vocational law course. The scholarship winner, if offered a position, must agree to take their pupillage with Marshall Diel & Myers Limited. Should the recipient not fulfill the work obligations, the full amount will become a repayable student loan.
