The Martha T. and Lavern M. Hamand Memorial Scholarship is a graduate writing award for students enrolled in Eastern Illinois University's History or Historical Administration program. The scholarship recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement with an emphasis on historical writing. Recipients must be in good academic standing with an outstanding grade point average. Preference is given to candidates who demonstrate excellence through submission of a writing assignment from a Master's level class and/or chapter from their master's thesis.
