About this opportunity
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship at Eastern Illinois University supports undergraduate and graduate students who exemplify the ideals and values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in their thoughts and actions. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate leadership through campus or community service and who embody Dr. King's vision of equality, justice, and service to others.
Recipients must be duly enrolled and maintain good academic standing at EIU. The scholarship requires applicants to demonstrate through essays how they are living examples of Dr. King's principles and to showcase their leadership in campus or community service activities.
Applicants must submit two essays and provide contact information for a letter of recommendation from a college professor, high school teacher/counselor, or former employer. The scholarship award amount varies and is administered through the Office of Belonging, Access, and Engagement at Eastern Illinois University.
