About This Opportunity

The Mary Eleanor Morris Scholarship was established through the estate of Mary Eleanor Leonard Morris, who was born in West Liberty, Ohio in 1892. She attended Oxford College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, where she met her husband, James Relle Morris. The couple did extensive volunteer work in hospitals in London, England during the lead-up to World War II, administering to American soldiers. Mrs. Morris created this scholarship fund to support work in her home community in Logan County, Ohio. This scholarship provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Logan County, Ohio. Five scholarships of $4,000 each are awarded annually, with the amount payable over four years ($1,000 per year). The scholarship supports students attending educational institutions in the United States. Eligible students must be graduating seniors from one of the following Logan County school districts: Bellefontaine City Schools, Benjamin Logan Local Schools, Indian Lake Local Schools, Jackson Center Local Schools, Ohio Hi-Point JVS, Riverside Local Schools, Ridgemont Local Schools, Sidney City Schools, Triad Local Schools, Upper Scioto Valley Local Schools, Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools, or West Liberty-Salem Local Schools. Students who are recipients of the Ohio Academic Scholarship or National Merit Scholarships of $4,000 or more are not eligible. The scholarship is administered by The Columbus Foundation and applications are managed through the guidance offices of eligible high schools in Logan County, Ohio.
