Mary Jane Coartney Memorial Creative Writing Scholarship

The Mary Jane Coartney Memorial Creative Writing Scholarship supports full-time students at Eastern Illinois University who demonstrate exceptional ability in creative writing. Recipients must be at junior rank at the time of the award and maintain good academic standing. Preference is given to students majoring in English, History, Journalism, or Theatre Arts. The scholarship recognizes and rewards creative writing talent among undergraduate students in the liberal arts and sciences. Students are evaluated based on their creative writing ability as demonstrated through a required writing sample. This is a one-time award, meaning recipients can only receive it once during their academic career at EIU.
