About this opportunity
The Mary O. Kinch Entrance Awards are awarded to first-year Music students at the University of Prince Edward Island in varying amounts based on recommendations from the Music Department. The awards honor Mary Olive Kinch, whose Island roots trace back to the fourth generation of her family that came from Ireland to farm on PEI. The scholarship fund was established through the generosity of her son, Justin A. (Mickey) McKean (1919-1997), who invested funds his mother received from a bequest and subsequently donated them to UPEI for scholarships for music students in his mother's name. The awards support incoming students pursuing music studies at UPEI.
