About this opportunity
Awarded in memory of Mary O. Kinch to students entering first-year Music at the University of Prince Edward Island. The scholarship honors Mary Olive Kinch, who was born in Kildare, PEI, and whose son Justin A. (Mickey) McKean established this fund from a bequest his mother received. Mary moved to Boston where she worked as a housekeeper and received a $50,000 bequest which was later invested by her son. Mr. McKean donated over $580,000 US dollars to UPEI to provide generous scholarships to music students in perpetuity. The award is given through recommendation from the Department of Music and supports students entering their first year in Music programs.
