About this opportunity
The Mary Sutherland Scholarship is offered by the New Zealand Institute of Forestry Foundation to support students enrolled in forestry or forestry-related courses at New Zealand Polytechnics. The scholarship recognizes excellence at the student level and forestry aspirations. When assessing applications, judges consider academic record, student background and forestry aspirations, and presentation of application and communication of ideas. The scholarship was taken over by the NZIF Foundation when it was established in December 2011. The scholarship honors Mary Sutherland, who was the first woman forestry graduate from a British Commonwealth University and a founding member of the Institute of Forestry in 1927. While stocks last, award recipients also receive a copy of Vivien Edwards' biography of Mary Sutherland.
