Maynard "Pat" O'Brien Scholarship

The Maynard "Pat" O'Brien Scholarship supports student-athletes from Eastern Illinois University's Men's or Women's Intercollegiate Track and Field teams. Recipients must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors who compete or intend to compete as members of the Track and Field team during their tenure at EIU. Preference is given to those individuals who compete in field events. The scholarship selection considers multiple factors including athletic performance, tenaciousness, leadership qualities, academic standing, and financial need. Recipients may receive the award more than once but must be re-nominated each time. If several equally qualified candidates are available, preference will be given to those intending to pursue an athletic coaching career. The award is announced in spring and awarded in fall semester. Senior recipients may receive a cash stipend to be used in a manner consistent with the integrity of the award. This scholarship is administered through the Athletics Department at Eastern Illinois University.
