About this opportunity
The Mayor's Opportunity Fund Round 3 provides grants to groups in County Durham and the wider North East Combined Authority (NECA) area to support older people aged 65 and over by reducing isolation, addressing disadvantage and showcasing the region as one that values dignity and inclusion across all generations. The fund can support a broad range of existing or new projects and activities which will help older people remain independent and active longer. This includes projects led by older people, digital inclusion and literacy initiatives, work to address fuel poverty, community transport, environmental and outdoor activities, work that enables better outcomes for women and people from diverse backgrounds including LGBTQIA+, those with disabilities and those from black and minoritised ethnic backgrounds, reducing social isolation and improving mental health, intergenerational projects, end of life and bereavement support, and dementia-focused projects. The fund supports the North East Combined Authority's commitment to a fairer North East through creating opportunity and ensuring the region is cohesive, inclusive and resilient, where everyone thrives and has the opportunity to contribute to the region's success.
