About this opportunity

The McColl Family Medical Scholarship is part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at The University of Queensland. Established in 2023 under the Queensland Commitment initiative and maintained by the income from a gift of $50,000 by the McColl Family, this scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students pursuing medical studies. The scholarship is designed for students who can demonstrate financial hardship and are enrolled full-time in a coursework program administered by the Faculty of Medicine. Both future and current UQ students at the undergraduate or postgraduate coursework level are eligible to apply. Preference is given to applicants from Regional, Rural or Remote areas. Applicants are evaluated based on demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors relevant to future academic success. Recipients may receive career and academic support through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at UQ.
