About this opportunity
The McKenna Secondary Education Scholarship supports full-time students at Eastern Illinois University who are pursuing secondary education teaching certification in English or History. Recipients must be juniors or seniors who have completed at least one education course required for secondary education teaching certification and maintain a GPA of 3.1 or higher. The scholarship requires all college credit to be earned at EIU and does not consider financial need as a criterion. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in research either in their major field or in secondary education, submit a written character reference from a professor in their field, and complete a personal interview with the selection committee. The award is announced in the Spring semester and paid in the fall and spring semesters. Recipients may not receive the award more than once.
