Tata Trusts Medical Grants

The Tata Trusts Medical Grants programme provides financial assistance to economically disadvantaged individuals requiring specific medical treatment. The high cost of healthcare poses a massive challenge for financially-disadvantaged patients and their families, especially when treatment requires hospitalisation, surgery, or expensive procedures. Health insurance often does not cover pre-existing conditions or sets ceilings on expenses, leaving many families unable to afford necessary care. To address this challenge, Tata Trusts extends medical grants to needy individuals in Mumbai and across India through a network of 33 linked government, municipal, private and charitable hospitals. Patients can approach these hospitals to receive treatment at concessional rates with support from medical professionals and social workers. Upon receiving requests, linked hospitals conduct basic checks and forward patient details to the Trusts for consideration. About 1,767 individuals benefited from the medical grants in FY 2023-24. Applicants must download and complete an application form, which can be submitted in-person (Monday-Friday during office hours), via email at igpmed@tatatrusts.org, or by post/courier to the Mumbai office. After due scrutiny and a socio-economic assessment of the family, the Trusts disburse grants to the extent of funds available.
