About This Opportunity

The Tata Trusts extend medical grants to financially-disadvantaged patients and their families in Mumbai who require specific medical treatment. The high cost of healthcare poses a massive challenge for lower-income families, especially when treatment requires hospitalisation, surgery, or expensive medicines or procedures. Health insurance companies often do not cover many pre-existing conditions or have ceilings on expenses, leaving families vulnerable to medical debt. After conducting due scrutiny and a socio-economic assessment of the family, the Trusts disburse grants to the extent of funds available. The program aims to address medical emergencies that would otherwise drain lower-income families of their financial, mental, and physical strength. To expand reach, the Trusts have built a network of 33 linked government, municipal, private and charitable hospitals across the country where patients can receive treatment at concessional rates with support from medical professionals and social workers. About 1,767 individuals benefited from the medical grants in FY 2023-24. Applications can be submitted in person at the Mumbai office during office hours (Monday-Friday), via email, or through post/courier. Patients or immediate family members must complete the application form, which undergoes review and socio-economic assessment before grant disbursement decisions are made.
