Mendip Hills Fund

The Mendip Hills Fund supports projects that benefit communities and the environment of the Mendip Hills National Landscape. The fund aims to conserve and enhance the environment, communities and economy of the Mendip Hills Character Area through targeted grants. Eligible organizations can use funding for conservation and landscape enhancement, promoting public understanding and enjoyment of the Mendip Hills, and supporting social and economic wellbeing. Specific uses include maintenance of natural or historic features, small capital costs for conservation equipment, education visits and activities, information and interpretation projects, outreach to disadvantaged groups, enhancing community facilities like village halls, start-up costs for social enterprises, and community enterprises such as village shops and play schemes. The fund is administered by Somerset Community Foundation and has approximately £15,000 available to distribute annually, typically supporting about two-thirds of applications received.
