About This Opportunity
The Mermaid School Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student who has graduated from a Prince Edward Island high school, is entering first year of the Bachelor of Education program, and has been involved in community service. The scholarship was established at the University of Prince Edward Island to assist students entering the Bachelor of Education program. The Mermaid Women's Institute was established in 1950 to support the educational needs of their children attending the one room school in Mermaid. With the closing of the school in 1972 and the sale of the property in 2002, the Mermaid Women's Institute continues to assist students with the establishment of this memorial scholarship.
