About This Opportunity
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Chief Constable have developed a scheme designed to make funding accessible for grass root community projects that aim to support crime prevention initiatives. The scheme is funded by Proceeds of Crime Act recovered assets. Applications for funding must demonstrate how they will contribute to key themes that support policing activity and the force priorities. Funding for 2026 will be awarded targeted to the themes of Community Cohesion, Promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Prevention of hate crime, including education and awareness raising projects. Projects should focus on contributing towards the prevention of crime through the promotion of community cohesion, by providing a sense of purpose and community to service users that diverts them away from negative behaviours, and by educating service users and the community on the impact of crime. This includes both Primary Prevention (stopping a problem before it happens by reducing opportunities for crime and strengthening community structures) and Secondary Prevention (seeking to change people at high risk of embarking upon a criminal career through early interventions and programs for high-risk neighbourhoods). Grants of up to £5,000 are available with a budget for approximately 20 grants to be awarded throughout Merseyside.
