About this opportunity
The Michael and Aletha Hennessey Scholarship is awarded to a student entering third or fourth year in the Faculty of Arts or Business at the University of Prince Edward Island, based on academic achievement. Students already in receipt of $1,000 or more in the same academic year are not eligible. The scholarship was established in honour of Michael and Aletha Hennessey of Charlottetown, PEI. Michael F. Hennessey (SDU '50) was UPEI's first Registrar who helped draft the university constitution when St. Dunstan's University merged with Prince of Wales College to form UPEI. He was recognized as a UPEI Founder in 2004 and is an award-winning playwright and author. Aletha Hennessey worked at the University Library from 1968-1976 and with various community organizations. Their children established these scholarships in honour of their parents.
