About This Opportunity

The MSFSS program supports active Tri-Council master's and doctoral CGS award holders with travel supplements of up to $6,000. These supplements are available to help offset the costs of undertaking research studies outside of Canada for a defined period. They are awarded by Canada's three federal funding agencies: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The program provides financial support to CGS recipients who wish to conduct research abroad during their graduate studies. There are two competition cycles per year, in June and October, with internal deadlines set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Victoria.

Decision June competition: late July; October competition: late November
