About this opportunity
This scholarship is awarded to a graduating Colonel Gray student who is entering first year at the University of Prince Edward Island with an average of 75-85% who is not already receiving a scholarship of $1,000 or more. The recipient must be involved in music, especially singing, dancing, and piano, and intend to pursue a career in Education. This generous scholarship honors the memory of Mildred Irene (Coffin) and Earl William George Foster Sr., both of whom were dedicated educators and believers in the importance of obtaining a good education. Mildred was a graduate of Prince of Wales College and taught for 33 years in Eastern Prince Edward Island, touching the lives of many children throughout her career. Earl Sr. was a graduate of the College of Agriculture in Truro, Nova Scotia, and worked with the Government of Prince Edward Island as a potato inspector and in swine registration, while also operating his own family farm. The scholarship was created by their son, Earl Foster, to commemorate his parents' memory and continue their commitment to education while also honoring their interest in musical talent.
