About this opportunity
The Military Service Award is offered by the University of Greater Manchester to support ex-service personnel studying at the University. Since 2017, the University has pledged to show support to those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces of the Crown, and their families, by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. This is a commitment to the principle that armed forces personnel, veterans and their families should face no disadvantage as a result of their service, with recognition of the specific challenges this group might face. The University wants to thank veterans for their service to the country and recognise their efforts through an award to support them throughout their educational journey. All students who have completed a minimum of 3 years military service since their eighteenth birthday in the British Armed Forces may apply. The amount payable is £500 per academic year, paid in arrears at the end of each academic year. Awards for the 2025/26 academic year will be paid in July 2026. To receive the award, students must have successfully completed their studies during the year on first attempt.
