About This Opportunity

The MineGeoTech Scholarship is part of the Aspire Scholarship Program at The University of Queensland, donated by alumnus Dr John Player through MineGeoTech Pty Ltd. This scholarship honours Dr Player's commitment to advancing the interests of capable students from remote and very remote areas who wish to pursue studies in engineering, science, technology, and mathematics disciplines at UQ. The scholarship provides $4,500 in financial support for one year to a commencing undergraduate domestic student who demonstrates significant financial disadvantage and resides in an Outer Regional, Remote, or Very Remote area. Recipients must be enrolling in a bachelor program with a significant STEM component and must have been awarded The Queensland Commitment Scholarship. Preference is given to students from Remote or Very Remote areas, followed by those from Outer Regional areas, who will study designated STEM programs or programs with a STEM major. This scholarship specifically targets students who have achieved maximum points for financial hardship through QTAC's Educational Access Scheme and have not completed any prior tertiary study at bachelor level or higher. The scholarship supports UQ's commitment to improving access to higher education for students from geographically isolated communities who face financial barriers to pursuing their academic aspirations in STEM fields.
