Moncrieff Travel Scholarship - Polar Ecology and Scientific Diving (Study Abroad)

University of St Andrews Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Moncrieff Travelling Scholarship was established through a generous legacy from Marjorie Moncrieff, who served as Secretary to the Department of Zoology from 1954 to 1982. This scholarship supports undergraduate (4th year) and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Science taking specific modules in the School of Biology at the University of St Andrews. The scholarship is specifically designed for students enrolled in the BL4301 or BL5124 Polar Ecology modules, or the BL4249 Scientific Diving module. Awards range from £1,000 to £3,000 and are paid as maintenance to support students during their overseas study abroad experience. Applicants must demonstrate both academic merit and financial need, providing a budget breakdown and personal statement outlining how the scholarship would benefit them during their overseas experience. The scholarship is awarded for one year and is coordinated by the Global Office. Successful scholars are expected to act as ambassadors for the University of St Andrews and provide a written account of their overseas experiences for promotional materials, acknowledging Marjorie Moncrieff's contribution.
