About this opportunity

This scholarship is funded by an MBIE Endeavour Smart Idea Fund and has been established to encourage Māori students to conduct doctoral-level research. The scholarship supports full-time PhD study at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, focusing on machine learning applications for emergency medical dispatch. Applicants would normally be expected to have completed a BSc (Hons), MSc Part 1 or a PGDipSc in AIML, COMP, DATA, SWEN or STAT, demonstrating good academic achievement. The scholarship comprises a tax-free stipend plus tuition fees coverage for the thesis component, enabling recipients to focus on their research over a three-year tenure. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and are expected to act as Ambassadors for the University.
