About This Opportunity

The Mrs. W. Chester McLure Memorial Awards are presented annually to graduating students in the Bachelor of Science program with concentrations in Family Science or Foods and Nutrition at the University of Prince Edward Island. Two awards are given: a first-place award of $500 and a second-place award of $300. The awards are named in honor of Lt. Col. Honourable W. Chester S. McLure, who was a distinguished Member of Parliament for Queens constituency, elected in 1930, 1945, and 1949. He also served three terms in the PEI Legislature during the 1920s and had notable roles as a teacher, businessman in the fox industry, president of the Guardian Publishing Company, and director of the Charlottetown Exhibition Association. Recipients are selected by the university's Scholarships and Awards Committee based on academic performance and standing within their program.
