About This Opportunity

The Métis Elder Marge Friedel Award is presented to a full-time undergraduate student who is a Métis person of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2) with satisfactory academic standing. This endowed award was established by the family and friends, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, in honor of the late Métis Elder Marge Friedel, who served as an associate of the U of A Faculty of Native Studies, Elder of the U of A Aboriginal Student Services Centre, and founding Elder of Amiskwaciy Academy. Selection is based on academic standing with primary preference given to graduates of Amiskwaciy Academy, and secondary preference given to students with demonstrated involvement in First Nation, Métis and/or Inuit (FNMI) university and/or community events. Students are automatically considered based on their completed General Application.
