About this opportunity

Made available starting in 2015 through a partnership between Lakeland College and the Métis Education Foundation, the Métis Scholar Award encourages academic achievement and provides financial assistance to Métis students enrolled at Lakeland College. The award is available to Métis students enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, be a Canadian citizen and resident of Alberta, provide proof of Métis ancestry, and be enrolled in the Otipemisiwak Métis Student and Alumni Association. Applicants must not be receiving funding from programs at the Rupertsland Institute, Métis National Council, Manitoba Métis Federation, or Alberta Métis Settlements. They must also declare they are not listed on Canada's Indian Registry or Band list, and are not Inuk or non-Status Indian. Additionally, students must demonstrate current or recent involvement in the Métis community and outline their reasons for choosing their field of study and how the award will impact their educational journey and career objectives.
