About this opportunity
The Murray's Light Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Murray Ashley Nixon, a bright and joyful young woman who tragically passed away in 2015 at age 18. Murray was passionate about relationships and helping others, and loved making people smile. The scholarship was established to continue her legacy by helping other young people pursue their passions and achieve a bright future.
This scholarship provides financial assistance to female high school graduates from Macon, Georgia who are pursuing bachelor's degrees. The fund seeks to support students who exemplify Murray's qualities of joy, passion for life, and dedication to following their dreams. Recipients are selected based on their ability to demonstrate how they will pursue their passion in life and their involvement in extracurricular activities.
The scholarship provides a $500 non-renewable award to one student per year. While the award is non-renewable, prior recipients may reapply and be reconsidered for future awards each year. The scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, which manages numerous scholarship funds serving students throughout the region.
