About this opportunity
The Nadara Sisters and North Steads Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund was established in 2018 to support charities and voluntary groups that offer services for residents within a 5km radius of the wind farm, with priority given to those within a 3km radius. The fund provides grants ranging from £1,000 to £20,000 for both capital and revenue funding. The fund supports a wide range of community initiatives including advice and support for families and carers experiencing hardships, environmental projects, development of local amenities including renewable energy installations, education and training provision with special support for apprenticeships, community activities and events, healthy living activities, sport and physical activity provision, and arts, culture and heritage projects. Community Interest Companies (CICs) and other social enterprises that are not charities can also apply, subject to specific eligibility criteria. Examples of supported activities include capital items such as buildings, renewable energy installations, machinery, equipment, vehicles and tools; community and environmental projects; apprenticeship and training support; revenue requests for salaries, project costs, and core organizational costs; sessional worker costs; repairs and refurbishment to community buildings; start-up costs for new community groups; out-of-school activities; and voluntary and community group activities.
