Narrative Prize

The Narrative Prize is an annual $5,000 award recognizing excellence in literary writing by new or emerging writers. The prize is awarded for the best short story, novel excerpt, poem, graphic story, or work of literary nonfiction published by Narrative Magazine during each year. Previously unpublished works may be submitted for consideration throughout the year, with the annual deadline of April 30. The prize is announced in October and is judged by the magazine's editors. In some years, the prize may be divided between multiple winners when more than one work merits the award. Unlike typical writing contests, the Narrative Prize is structured as an award rather than a competition, recognizing exceptional literary achievement among emerging voices in contemporary literature.
