About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on remote sensing data analysis using Goddard's Lidar, Hyperspectral, and Thermal Airborne Imager (G-LiHT) to study vegetation structure and function. Research activities include data fusion, radiative transfer modeling, and linking field measurements to moderate resolution remote sensing data from missions like Landsat 8, MODIS, GEDI, and EcoStress. The fellowship supports studies of forest carbon stocks, vegetation composition, forest health, and managed landscapes across North America. This position is located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and is closed to Senior Fellows (5+ years post-PhD).
