NASA Postdoctoral Program - Enhancing information extraction from terrestrial remote sensing observations

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on developing strategies for evaluating and improving the information content of terrestrial remote sensing measurements. The research aims to address challenges in representing Earth's land surface heterogeneity and human modifications in land surface models. The project will employ modern computing techniques founded in information and statistical theory to extract complex patterns and relationships from remote sensing data, examining synergy across different measurements to develop products better suited for model evaluation and data assimilation studies.
