About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific position seeks a Postdoc / Research Scientist for the NASA Ames exoplanet speckle imaging group, which operates multiple high-resolution imaging instruments on some of the most advanced optical telescopes in the world. The successful candidate would become integrated into the NASA high-resolution speckle image group and become familiar with speckle instruments, data reduction, and analysis techniques. The position would perform software analysis to determine instrumental/observational metrics, revise and maintain documentation, support outreach activities, help the NASA exoplanet community make use of these assets, participate in observing programs at various telescopes, lead in writing scientific papers, and develop their own research program (25%). The NPP Fellowship position would be located at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, and is initially for two years with the possibility of extension for a third year.
