About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on far-infrared/submillimeter wavelength observations which play a critical role in understanding star formation and the life cycle of gas in the interstellar medium. A postdoctoral fellow is sought to work with C. Darren Dowell and collaborators on the development of far-IR/submm instrumentation and related astrophysics. Immediate opportunities include work on SOFIA instrumentation (HAWC+) and polarimetry of the interstellar medium, Kinetic Inductance Detectors for far-IR/submm wavelengths, and the Cerro Chajnator Atacama Telescope. The position is located at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
