About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. This specific fellowship focuses on in situ Venus chemical and physics investigations concentrating on the Venus atmosphere and clouds. The position involves research in the chemistry, physics and dynamics of atmospheres as well as exploring the capabilities of potential instrumentation suites to provide relevant science data, including composition, dynamic chemistry, particle detection and tracking, and life detection. The candidate will have access to unique experimental capabilities including the Glenn Extreme Environment Rig (GEER) at NASA Glenn Research Center. Research can include exploring Venus atmospheric superrotation mechanisms, cloud structure, UV absorbers, atmospheric mixing, and potential biological presence in cloud layers. The work aims to prepare NASA with relevant scientific understanding and capabilities to conduct investigations in the Venus atmosphere, with possible extension to other planetary bodies. The position is for two years with a possible extension to three years.
