About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity seeks postdoctoral researchers to perform global planetary magnetosphere simulations of any planet (in the solar system or otherwise). Such simulations will address questions of magnetospheric physics, including their large- and small-scale structure, dynamical behavior as a function of both internal and solar wind forcing, feedback across subsystems (e.g. ITM coupling, mesoscale, reconnection, radiation belts), auroral responses, asymmetries, moon-magnetosphere interactions, suitability for life, or other outstanding issues. This opportunity will combine the Heliophysics, Astrophysics, and Planetary Science research areas.
