About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity concerns the modeling of different aspects of energy storage and dissipation in the outer solar atmosphere and wind, focusing on the heating of the solar corona and acceleration of the solar wind. The research will be addressed via analytical modeling and/or numerical simulations, at either the large MHD scales or the smaller kinetic scales involving non-linear wave-particle interactions. The fellowship is based at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, under the supervision of Dr. Marco Velli.
