About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity at the GSFC Solar Physics Laboratory focuses on research to understand the coupled system of the solar interior and the solar atmosphere using theory, simulation, and data analysis. The program investigates how internal conditions such as magnetic fields, flows, and oscillations are manifested in observations, and how observations of the photosphere, chromosphere, and corona reveal internal structure and dynamics. Research utilizes observations from instruments on the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and other missions including SOHO, STEREO, Solar Orbiter, Hinode, IRIS, and GOES. The fellowship includes access to NASA's supercomputing systems and the opportunity to work with leading researchers in heliophysics.
