About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on heliophysics science research at Goddard Space Flight Center, with three major research thrusts: developing satellite-based plasma mass spectrometer instrumentation, analyzing measurements from such instrumentation with focus on wave-particle interactions and radiation belt populations, and working with the Aurorasaurus citizen science platform to improve space weather forecasting. Research involving the HOPE instruments on the Van Allen Probes and understanding ionospheric outflow effects on magnetosphere dynamics are of particular interest.
