About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. This specific opportunity focuses on understanding the solar origins of space weather and other energetic solar phenomena through data interpretation, theory, and numerical simulations. Research areas include magnetic reconnection in the Sun's atmosphere, formation and evolution of filament channels, coronal mass ejections, chromospheric and coronal jets, coronal heating, prominence plasmas, flare reconnection, and heliospheric current sheet dynamics. These competitive fellowships are one- to three-year appointments designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. Fellows work at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, collaborating with leading scientists in heliophysics research.
