About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on theoretical research and computer simulation with emphasis on observations of space plasmas. Specific interest areas include nonlinear phenomena in unstable collisionless plasmas, compressible and incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence in Cartesian and spherical geometries, and wave-particle interactions and parametric instabilities. Simulation approaches include MHD, Vlasov, and hybrid codes run on computers ranging from PCs to massively parallel computers, while analytical work involves linear and nonlinear instability theories. The fellowship is based at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
