About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on the "asymmetrical" magnetospheres of the Ice Giant planets, Uranus and Neptune, which are the least understood plasma environments in the solar system. Postdoctoral researchers will help further understanding of ice giant magnetospheres, their large-scale structure, dynamical behavior as a function of both internal and solar wind forcing, as well as their interaction with the planet's moons. The research will involve either data analysis of Voyager 2 measurements, modeling, or a combination of the two.
