About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on developing a platform capable of generating a near infrared astrocomb on a chip-scale photonic integrated platform for calibration of precision radial velocity observations of exoplanet-hosting stars. The proposed architecture will enable spectrograph calibration at the few cm s-1 level required for detecting Earth-mass extra-solar planets. The successful candidate will be involved with design, fabrication and testing of such devices, working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on technology development for astronomical instrumentation.
