About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects. This specific opportunity focuses on megacity CO2 monitoring, particularly in the Los Angeles area. The research aims to monitor atmospheric concentrations of CO2 and CH4 over megacities with precision capable of verifying changes in emissions, produce space-time resolved carbon inventories, provide a testbed for evaluating new measurement technologies, and develop methods enabling extension to other cities. The fellowship is designed to advance NASA's missions in Earth science through one- to three-year competitive appointments. Successful candidates will have expertise in atmospheric physics and chemistry, carbon cycle science, airborne instruments, atmospheric remote sensing, or regional scale CO2 flux inversions. Fellows will join the Megacity CO2 Monitoring Team and collaborate with investigators to install, operate, and analyze measurements of greenhouse gases, ingest data into sophisticated high-resolution inversion models, design space-based monitoring solutions, and interface with decision makers on urban emissions reduction policies.
