About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on planetary boundary layer (PBL) research, which is the well-mixed shallow atmospheric layer near the surface characterized by vigorous turbulence that controls exchanges of heat, moisture, and momentum between the lowest layer of troposphere and Earth's surface. The research aims to develop passive-active inverse methods for PBL probing and science investigations using various data sources, addressing challenges in satellite remote sensing and improving understanding of PBL structural and functional dynamics. This position is closed to Senior Fellows who are 5 years or more past their PhD.
