About This Opportunity

This NASA Postdoctoral Program fellowship opportunity focuses on understanding the dynamics and evolution of complex multi-scale interactions of magnetized plasma in the solar atmosphere from subsurface layers to the corona. The research involves careful analysis of observations from NASA space missions (SDO, IRIS, Hinode, Parker Solar Probe) and ground instruments (Dunn Solar Telescope, DKIST, Swedish Solar Telescope), combined with numerical models. The opportunity includes analysis of self-organization processes in the solar atmosphere, including studies of individual events such as helical motions and eruptive activity, statistical studies, and coupling with solar activity on larger scales. Research will investigate the response of the solar atmosphere to increasing magnetic flux from the interior in terms of thermodynamical and turbulent properties and structuring. This postdoctoral fellowship is part of NASA's NPP program in Heliophysics Science, based at NASA's Ames Research Center under the mentorship of Dr. Irina Kitiashvili.
