About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on studying Arctic and Antarctic atmospheric processes and their interactions with ice sheets and oceans. The Earth's polar regions are experiencing unprecedented changes that will have profound effects on global climate, society, and biodiversity. Research topics include polar radiative processes, properties of cloud and blowing snow over polar regions, effects of cloud and atmospheric events on polar radiation budget and surface melting, and polar boundary layer processes. Research tools include radiative transfer simulations, numerical modeling, and remote sensing using both surface observations and data from NASA satellites. This opportunity is located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and is closed to applicants who are Senior Fellows (5-years or more past PhD).
