About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on analytical and experimental research in aeroelasticity and structural dynamics of turbomachines to understand the basic mechanisms involved in flutter, forced response, vibration, and control of vibration. The research aims to apply results directly to current and future-generation turbomachines and their components to improve aeroelastic characteristics, performance, and design. Current research includes development of models and computer codes to predict flutter, forced response, nonlinear vibrations, and passive and active vibration control in turbomachinery components of propulsion systems. Vibration and aeroelastic experiments are conducted to guide analytical model development, verify them, and check designs. The position is located at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
