About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on theoretical investigations of atmospheric dynamics within the framework of data obtained from the Voyager, Galileo, Cassini and other missions to the giant planets; from current and past orbiters and rovers at Mars; and from space telescope, ground-based and airborne instrumentation. Emphasis is placed on the identification and study of the fundamental dynamic processes in various atmospheres, taking advantage of the wide range of relevant atmospheric parameters encountered among the planets to carry out comparative studies. Areas of specific interest include planetary-scale dynamics, wave propagation and associated transport phenomena, and atmospheric thermodynamics and moist convection. The fellowship is located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
