About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on exoplanet science and technology development at Ames Research Center. Scientists are actively involved in theoretical computation of extrasolar planet atmospheres, predicting exoplanet spectra, conducting and interpreting exoplanet observations, planning future observations, and developing technology for future exoplanet missions. Work includes atmospheric models and spectra for giant planets, terrestrial planets, and brown dwarfs, theoretical models of multi-planet solar systems to interpret ground-based radial velocity observations, planning exoplanet observations with future NASA missions including Kepler and James Webb Space Telescope, and developing high contrast imaging testbeds for coronagraphic space telescopes. The fellowship provides postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to work with leading scientists at Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.
