About this opportunity
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific opportunity focuses on research in surface processes and geomorphology, examining geomorphological evidence for processes which have shaped the surfaces and interiors of solid bodies over the age of the solar system. The research utilizes comparative studies of planetary systems to understand the geological histories and petrology of icy bodies (Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Triton, and Pluto/Charon) and other planets like Mars. Geochemical and geophysical modeling of internal processes shaping surfaces are combined with remotely sensed data sets to provide qualitative and quantitative understanding of the forces which shaped these worlds. The position is located at Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, under the advisorship of Dr. Jeffrey Moore.
